CUWFC header Cumberland United Senior girls3

Cumberland United Women’s Football Club (CUWFC) is an inaugural member club of the FFSA WNPL which commenced in 2016 as part of the National roll out of the WNPL by the FFA, and one of the pioneer clubs for Women’s soccer in South Australia.

CUWFC is committed to the development of Women’s soccer through numerous pathways that include player development, coaching and administration. We are actively involved in our community providing clinics, engaging with schools and creating opportunities for girls to become their best.

We have players, present and past, who have represented Australia as Matilda’s – Emma Checker, Kris Swaffer and Sacha Wainright, W-League Lady Reds – Emily Hodgson. In addition CUWFC has for many years consistently provided talent into the FFSA Pathway programmes and more recently the US College system.

With a long and proud history that dates back to 1931 the Women’s CUFC is creating new history having established itself as a Women’s only club in 2004 when we made the Women’s Memorial Playing Fields (WMPF) our home.

Our Football Director and PS4 WNPL Coach is former Socceroo Steve (Maxi) Maxwell. Maxi is a FFSA Hall of Fame inductee and Player Life Member. Maxi has an outstanding record as a coach, teacher and mentor of players and coaches alike. Working with our coaches Maxi works to ensure that we further develop our football culture and game style in line with skills acquisition principles, the FFA National Curriculum and coach accreditation. Our club teaches girls essential football skills including ball mastery, teamwork, respect and sportsmanship.

As a WNPL club Cumby is committed to providing opportunities for girls across all age groups and skill levels. Our broader commitment is to the development of the women’s game through consistently fielding multiple Junior (U17, U15, U13) and Mini Roo (U11, U9, U7) teams in all age groups as well as multiple Senior squads including WNPL, Reserves and Divisional teams.

Cumby is a proud family oriented organisation and values the need to offer not only excellent player development of quality soccer skills in a safe, friendly and fun environment but to also do it at a family affordable price. Our dedication to providing girls and women of all ages the opportunity to develop and achieve their highest level of play in the sport of football is second to none.
